Abstract

Al Fahim, Group Head of Business Development, ALFAHIM and Nelida Fuccaro, Associate Dean, Graduate Studies; Professor of Middle Eastern History, NYUAD as our guest speakers.
At our exclusive roundtable, ‘From Past to Present: The Enduring Legacy of Family Enterprises,’ we brought together family business members and leaders from the UAE, KSA, Qatar, Lebanon, Yemen, and India, along with academics and experts. Through a panel discussion with Tony Jashanmal and Mohammed Al Fahim we explored the role and influence of family businesses in driving regional economic growth and societal change, as well as examined how legacy impacts today’s business leadership.
Prof. Nelida Fuccaro provided unique insights of the history of merchant families in the Gulf and their importance on shaping the nation states of today. The session concluded with a visit to the NYUAD Archives and Special Collections which allowed participants to directly encounter the documented entrepreneurial heritage that has shaped the region’s development.
